On the Assen track, Alessandro Zaccone took pole position for the Dutch GP ahead of Hector Garzò and Kevin Zannoni. For the Tech3 team rider it is the second consecutive pole position in MotoE. The championship leader, Mattia Casadei, was ninth.

This weekend, the MotoE arrives in Assen for the Dutch GP, the fifth round of the 2024 season. Eight races have been completed and eight remain to be done. So far, the 2024 World Championship has been a fascinating spectacle, with four different winners in the first four rounds.
After the two morning sessions, Jordi Torres had achieved the best time ahead of Garzò, Zacconi, Spinelli, Pons, Casadei, Mantovani and Granado. These riders went directly to Q2 while Kevin Zannoni, second in the general classification, and Oscar Gutierrez, third, had to compete in Q1.

The qualifying session began with Q1, in which took part Kevin Zannoni, second in the general classification, Oscar Gutierrez, third and Matteo Ferrari (Felo Gresini), winner of both races here in Assen a year ago.
Immediately at the start of the session, Kevin Zannoni took the lead, setting a 1:40.289, followed a few hundredths of a second behind Oscar Gutierrez.
The Aspar team rider did not stop after setting the fastest lap but continued to push until he set the record lap in 1:39.853. Gutierrez improved his time, but Lukas Tulovic, returning after the bad accident at Mugello, did better than him and set the second-best time in Q2.
Zannoni and Tulovic thus moved into Q2 while Gutierrez, Roccoli and Ferrari were the first among those excluded from the Top 10 on the starting grid of the two races of the Dutch GP.

The results of Q2 and the starting grid of the Dutch GP of MotoE 2024

At the start of Q2 of the Dutch GP of MotoE, Eric Granado took the lead with a time of 1:40.152, a good reference but certainly not enough to aspire to pole position. In fact, shortly after, Jordi Torres overtook Granado and took the lead in Q2 with a time of 1:40.113.
But it was Alessandro Zacconi who, in the next lap, set the reference time for the pole position of this Dutch GP of MotoE. The Tech3 team rider crossed the finish line, clocking an incredible time of 1:39.444, eight-tenths faster than the previous Dutch track record.
Behind the Italian rider, Hector Garzò and Kevin Zannoni took second and third positions, respectively, in the time classification, overtaking an excellent Jordi Torres. For Alessandro Zaccone, it is the second pole position in MotoE after the one obtained in the previous round at Mugello. Jordi Torres, Nicholas Spinelli, and Eric Granado will occupy the second row of the starting grid on Saturday's races.
Excellent performance for Lukas Tulovic, returning after the injury at Mugello. The German rider, after gaining access to Q2, achieved the seventh fastest time, ahead of Miquel Pons.
For Mattia Casadei, ninth, this qualifying was worse than expected, and in the two races on Saturday, he will have to recover several positions to defend the championship leadership from Zannoni's attacks.
Andrea Mantovani crashed on the last lap, but the Forward team rider suffered no consequences.
