This week, the electric MotoGP series is expected in Assen, for the Dutch GP at the Cathedral of Speed. After half the season and eight races, the classification of MotoE 2024 sees Mattia Casadei ahead of Kevin Zannoni by six points.
This weekend, the MotoE arrives in Assen for the Dutch GP, the fifth round of the 2024 season. Eight races have been completed and eight remain to be done. So far, the 2024 World Championship has been a fascinating spectacle, with four different winners in the first four rounds.
Ahead of the Motul TT Assen, Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team) is leading the championship, but just barely. The Italian bounced back after the disappointing Catalan GP to take a win and second place at his home circuit of Mugello, giving him the championship lead, but compatriot Kevin Zannoni won Race 2 and secured second place just six points away. In the past, Casadei has achieved excellent results in Assen and aims to remain at the top of the standings after the Dutch round.

Casadei and Zannoni are the protagonists of the race for the 2024 Championship, while Oscar Gutierrez (Axxis-MSI) and Nicholas Spinelli ( Tech3 E-Racing) arrive in the Netherlands looking for a weekend that is decidedly better than the one experienced in Italy. Gutierrez's tenth and eleventh place and Spinelli's ninth and tenth were the worst finishes of the season for the two. For them, Assen will be the time to react so as not to lose contact with the leaders in the standings.
Meanwhile, Hector Garzò (Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE) finished equal on points with Spinelli – the two are both at 88 – in fifth position, with the Spaniard returning to the podium after two second places in Portimao. Eric Granado (LCR E-Team) also came out of Mugello well; the Brazilian achieved a third place in Race 2 which allowed him to move up to sixth place in the standings.
Last year's double Assen winner, Matteo Ferrari (Felo Gresini MotoE), achieved his best result of the season at Mugello with a seventh position, but now the goal is to return to the podium at a friendly track like the Dutch one. Alessandro Zaccone ( Tech3 E-Racing) could also be a rider to keep an eye on after the excellent weekend at Mugello, where he achieved a pole position and a podium.
At Dynavolt Intact GP, the conditions of Lukas Tulovic remain to be verified after the bad accident at Mugello; we'll see if the German rider will be able to race or if a different rider will be lined-up in his place.
