Ferrari put in an impressive first race and took the win ahead of championship leader Torres, who only managed to hold off Krummenacher in third. In race 2, Ferrari wins the fight with Torres and completes a fabulous one-two at Assen.
The report of the two races of the Dutch GP of MotoE in Assen – Matteo Ferrari (Felo Gresini MotoE) returned to victory. The Italian took the lead early on in Race 1 at TT Circuit Assen and then pushed into the lead to hold off points leader Jordi Torres (Openbank Aspar Team). In turn, Torres had to contend with a fierce Randy Krummenacher (Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE), but the Spaniard managed to hold on to second place, gaining another 20 valuable points, while Ferrari reduced the gap after Race 1 to just 13 points.
Torres had the best start, but Ferrari didn't wait long to attack, crossing the finish line in the lead already on the first lap. From there on Torres had his work cut out trying to keep up with him, and he initially succeeded, with the two outdistanced the rest of the MotoE group.
The fight for third place put Krummenacher against Eric Granado (LCR E-Team) and Mattia Casadei (HP Pons Los 40), while Andrea Mantovani (RNF MotoE Team) joined the group shortly thereafter. With overtaking and counter-passing, Ferrari and Torres managed to gain a bit of an advantage, with Ferrari continuing to push into the lead.
Managing to gain just under a second, the Italian maintained perfect pace up to the checkered flag to take another convincing victory. In the fight for second place, Krummenacher, outdistanced his opponents, started aiming for Torres. The Swiss got close, but not enough to launch an attack on the last lap. The Spaniard thus took 20 precious points, while Krummenacher nonetheless impressed with another podium as a rookie in MotoE.
Casadei maintained fourth place, while the fight for fifth became a duel, with Mantovani able to fend off Granado. A great battle from the bunch decided seventh place, which went to Hector Garzo (Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE), who preceded Tito Rabat (Prettl Pramac MotoE) at the finish line.

After a Race 1 that was almost almost to the wire, Race 2 was also decidedly a typical race of the FIM Enel World Championship MotoE at the TT Circuit Assen. Once again Jordi Torres (Openbank Aspar Team) failed to get the better of Matteo Ferrari (Felo Gresini MotoE). The Italian completed a one-two in style, moving to eight points of Torres, while the Spaniard had to settle for second place, with Mattia Casadei (HP Pons Los 40) crossing the finish line in third after starting tenth.
Torres was quickest from the start, with Eric Granado (LCR E-Team) starting second and Ferrari third, while Casadei got to work behind them to move up to fourth. Very energetic Andrea Mantovani (RNF MotoE Team), who got his elbows out to get into the fight for fifth, facing Randy Krummenacher (Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE) and Kevin Zannoni (Ongetta SIC58 Squadra Corse).
The drama of the race was then consumed in the lead, when Granado touched the rear of Ferrari; the Brazilian stayed on track and didn't lose his position, but lost some time and created a gap. The gap remained the same and the race turned into a two-way challenge for the win.
What would prove to be the winning pass took place with four laps to go, when Ferrari pulled off an absolutely stunning move to go around Torres and take the lead at Hoge Heide, leaving the Spaniard with the only option, as in Race 1: to stalk. This time Torres finished just 0,078 behind Ferrari, picking up a further 20 valuable points, as Ferrari once again proved impeccably quick in his third win of the year.
Casadei also made an impressive comeback, moving up seven places from his grid position to complete the podium. Mantovani was the victim of a late crash that ousted him from the fight for the podium, while Granado conquered the fourth position ahead of his teammate Miquel Pons.
Pons managed to precede Zannoni to the checkered flag, while Alessandro Zaccone (Tech 3 E-Racing) took P7. Nicholas Spinelli (HP Pons Los 40) took eighth place after a difficult finish with Krummenacher, while Kevin Manfredi (Ongetta SIC58 Squadra Corse) beat Hector Garzò (Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE) for the last place in the top ten.
The first half of the season ends like this… and the next stop will be the British GP, when the electric field will line up for the first time at Silverstone. Torres leads the standings by just eight points… with eight races still to go.
