At the Red Bull Ring, Oscar Gutierrez took pole position of the Austrian GP ahead of Hector Garzò and Kevin Zannoni. This is the first pole position for the Axxis-MSi team rider in MotoE. Ninth is Mattia Casadei, the main pursuer of the championship leader, Hector Garzò.

At the Red Bull Ring, Oscar Gutierrez (Axxis-MSi) takes his first pole position in MotoE. The Spanish rider, currently third in the general classification, preceded the championship leader, Hector Garzò (Dynavolt Intact GP), and Kevin Zannoni (Openbank Aspar Team). The qualifying session of the Austrian GP of MotoE started with Miquel Pons and Matteo Ferrari, who achieved the two best times in Q1 and gained access to the fight for the top ten positions on the starting grid. Difficult Q1 for Nicholas Spinelli, who is unable to access Q2 and will have to start from twelfth position in the race. For the Tech3 E-Racing team rider it is practically goodbye to his chances of winning the championship, unless the weather helps him.
In Q2, the fight for pole position was dominated by Oscar Gutierrez and Kevin Zannoni, but the first was the one who came out on top, with a record lap of 1:37.970. Until a few minutes from the end, Hector Garzò was in eighth position as his best time had been cancelled for having exceeded the track limits. Only in the last two laps the championship leader managed to obtain a time of 1:38.036, which guaranteed him to start on the front row. Excellent Zannoni, who took third place after being the fastest rider on track for several laps. For the Italian of the Aspar team, only 93 thousandths of a gap from Gutierrez. Mattia Casadei, Garzò's main pursuer in the championship, is only ninth and will start from the third row.
