Dutch GP of MotoE: Dominique Aegerter 1st and 2nd in the Assen races

Dutch GP MotoE to Assen Dominique Aegerter
DutchGP: Dominique Aegerter wins race 1 of the MotoE in Assen

Dutch GP of MotoE - Start of preparation, cancellation, start of preparation, cancellation, green light, 3-lap sprint race and red flag. This could be the summary of Race 2 of the MotoE in Assen where Dominique Aegerter took second place. In Race 1, however, a great victory for the Swiss rider.

Dutch GP of MotoE - The two races of the MotoE at Assen were probably the best and the worst race of the MotoGP electric class in these four years of life. In the first race, Aegerter took the victory with a superb overtaking on Mattia Casadei at the last corner. In the second one, made chaotic by the rain that fell a few seconds before the start, the Swiss rider achieved a podium.
Before the summer break, Dominique Aegerter is the leader of the general classification with 158 points, a 31,5 point advantage over his rivals two rounds from the end of the championship.
The next round of the MotoE World Cup is after the summer break, from August 19th to 21st, on the Austrian Red Bull Ring track.

“I am very happy to have started the weekend by taking pole position. I know this track well, two months ago I got two victories and a pole position in the Supersport championship. I couldn't wait to go back to Assen, I like the track and there are a lot of fans. Friday morning was weird. The first session was wet and I finished 12th. I thought I could improve in FP2, but it rained hard and then the practice was canceled and I had to do Q1. It certainly helped to have a little more time on a dry track. Just ten minutes of dry track is not much to adapt to the track, the conditions, the bike, the tires, the gearbox and the set-up. So I was lucky to have two short eight and seven minute sessions. This was definitely a small advantage over the others who went straight into Q2. My Dynavolt Intact GP team MotoE he did a great job. They made a small modification to the bike to allow me to go faster. "

“Saturday the race was really exciting. My start was not so good, I slipped back a bit from pole position. But I was always around positions two and three. I knew that with only 8 laps, I had to stay ahead. We fought once again with Casadei, Ferrari and Granado, it wasn't easy and we did some crazy overtaking, but the bikes are all the same, so we have to take risks to overtake. In the end, I made a great overtaking in the last chicane and took the win.
Last year I was a bit unlucky, I crashed in the first lap. But this year we won, race 1 and we gained 25 points, this was the number one goal."

“The second race here in Assen was certainly a bit strange because in the starting procedure we had a bit of rain, then we waited, not knowing whether to put on the rain tires or stay on the slicks. We then did a warm-up lap but there we saw that it was raining a lot, so we waited on the grid again and the thoughts on tire choice started again. In the end, all went out with slicks but rain drops always during the race. it was quite difficult to ride so I didn't want to be in first position so early because I wanted to see from others where the limits were but unfortunately the red flag was raised when I was second. I would have liked to extend the lead in the championship further, but Eric was in front of me when I stopped the race. Overall it was a strange race, especially as only half of the points were awarded. But at least I was still on the podium so second place is good.
Now we have four more races coming up at Spielberg and Misano, both tracks that I like so I will give my all to stay in the lead until the end of the season ”.
