Double podium in the Austrian GP of MotoE for Dominique Aegerter
Dominique Aegerter achieves two podiums in the Austrian GP of MotoE

In the Austrian GP of MotoE, Dominique Aegerter achieves two very important podiums to remain leader of the general classification. The Swiss keeps Eric Granado at a distance who now follows him with 17,5 points with two races to go.

In Austria, Dominique Aegerter came as the leader of the standings of the MotoE with 31,5 points ahead of Eric Granado, his closest rival. In the two races that took place at the Red Bull Ring, the Dynavolt Intact GP team rider achieved a second and a third place, earning important points to limit the recovery of Granado, author of a double victory.
Aegerte has seen his gap drop by 14 points but the remaining 17,5 points are a good advantage with which to reach the last round of the season in Misano, in two weeks. The final two races during the San Marino GP will be a head-to-head between Aegerter and Granado, as Ferrari, Casadei and Pons are now mathematically excluded from the fight for the title of winner of the MotoE World Cup 2022.

“We didn't start the race weekend badly on Friday. It was wet in the morning, which is why we only finished eighth, but then in the second free practice session I was already second. Then I finished fifth, 0,252 behind, which shows that we are all very close to each other.
The chicane was a good solution and it was okay to have two more corners because the track was not very winding before.
We were pretty strong on Saturday. In the race I was very lucky to avoid Ferrari because he crashed at the first corner and flew past right in front of me. Unfortunately, for this, I lost time and the connection with the leading group. It was difficult to set fast times because I had a great battle with Zannoni because he wasn't easy to overtake. When I finally passed, I already had a big gap from Casadei and Granado.
On a MotoE it's not easy to go much faster than the others so I couldn't close the gap in those seven laps. Due to Casadei's crash in the penultimate corner of the race, I gained a position. Our goal was to increase and earn points over Granado and Ferarri in the championship but Granado was faster in race 1 so he gained 5 points on me.”

“I think for everyone who watched Sunday's race it was very spectacular as we were fighting very hard. Sunday I made a better start but on the first lap Garzò and I touched each other and that is why we immediately lost contact with the leading group. I had to catch up in one or two laps, but there were still fights between the other riders and this helped us to catch up. In the end I managed to get back to the podium. On Sunday I felt really good on the bike, the team did a fantastic job once again improving it even more. However, I was at the limit to keep up with the others but despite everything it was more important to take another podium and more points. Now we will have the last two races in Misano where I will arrive as leader in the standings, which is positive.”
